In order to keep the number of categories somewhat manageable, I have decided to group some regions together. The categories can be defined as follows:
North American: all Native American traditions, including Navaho, Hopi, Lakota, Haida, Inuit and Eskimo
Central and South American: the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan cultures
Western European: encompassing the Celtic traditions of the British Isles and Gaul (modern-day France) and Spain
Norse: the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland) as well as a few Teutonic (German) deities
Eastern European: the Baltic states, the Slavic regions, Gypsy, Turkish, and Russian
Greek: the classical Greek world
Roman: the classical Roman pantheon and the ancient Etruscans
Egyptian: deities of the ancient Egyptians
African: includes all African countries except Egypt, plus African-inspired traditions, such as Vodoun, Candomblé, and Santeria
Middle Eastern: Akkadian, Babylonian, Sumerian, Persian, Aramaic, Judaic, and pre-Islamic
Hindu: Vedic and Hindu deities
Southeast Asian: Chinese, Japanese, Buddhist, Korean, and Tibetan
Polynesian: including Aboriginal Australian and myths from the South Pacific (New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, the Philippines, Indonesia, Samoa, and Hawaii)
